Kayaking the Salt River
Thursday was a record day. No, really! The mercury topped off at 118 in Phoenix, setting a record for the hottest day in the last 10 years.
But what better time is there to head to the river to cool off? I headed to the river to spend the day with my mother and a group of friends. We had a great time paddling down the river for a few hours.
I don't get to see my mother often because of our schedules, but I always love planning a day on the water with her. She loves kayaking and plans a trip down the Colorado River each year with a local group.

My mom and I enjoying our time.

My friend Bruce before he rolled his kayak in some rapids.

Sometimes I get so hungry...

Hey JT,
Nice to see that you got to PLAY while I was WORKING in the HEAT when it was 118° +!!!
I was photographing outdoors in the HEAT all day long, almost 8 hours...good thing the job was worth our time!
Ken was working with me... here is a photo of Ken laying in the cooler in Albertsons trying to cool off!
Staying cool at 118 ° in Phoenix, AZ
